From Waste to Resource: The San Lan Approach

For example, in a typical lead acid battery recycling equipment setup, batteries are first cut and drained, then crushed and separated into acid, lead paste, lead grids, and plastic. The lead paste undergoes de-sulfurization before entering a rotary furnace or blast furnace for smelting, producing crude metallic lead with recovery rates exceeding 95%. The crude lead is then refined in a kettle furnace to 99.999% purity.
